ACL Survivor Guide: Part 1 - What to Wear
As you can see by the forecast above, you can expect a little rain on Friday and Saturday. However, temperatures, though lower, will still be in the 90s. This is better than previous years where it was well over 100 but we could also have quite a bit of humidity.
Every year I see men walking around without shirts and girls in bikinis and sundresses. (Or if you’re Leslie, a tube top and thong.) While it makes for excellent scenery in the beginning, (No, I don’t mean Leslie) it’s not so sexy several hours later when they look like boiled lobster.
- Your first layer should always be sunscreen.
- Take a hat. For Friday and Saturday you might consider a rain hat or at least something waterproof. For Sunday, just something to shade your eyes.
- Wear layers. If you’re wearing a cute little sundress, that’s fine, but take a breezy, long sleeved cotton shirt with you that you can throw on if you start to burn. If you press your skin and release and the skin is white, you’re burning! Even if it’s not sunny, you can get a sunburn.
- Wear comfortable shoes. It’s going to be a long day. You’re going to do some serious walking between venues and between Zilker and your chosen transportation. There is nothing more miserable than wearing shoes that hurt all day.
- A camelback. You’re allowed to wear one but it must be empty (although I’ve been told you can fill it and freeze it, as ice is allowed) You can bring two factory sealed water bottles up to 1 liter each to fill it with once you’re in the park. There are also water fountains within the park.
- An Umbrella. To shelter you from rain or sun. Just watch that you don’t block peoples view. K? Thx!
- A rain poncho. You can find super light ones that won’t weigh you down.
Dress cool, but dress smart. Recommendations for this year:
