2nd Annual Asia Food Fest 2007
In Celebration of SATAY’s 20 Years in Austin, SATAY Restaurant Invites You to Enjoy:
Three Delicious Days (September 6-8), As We Host Distiguished Chefs & Culinary Experts of Asian & Asian Inspired Cuisines.
Austin, TX— Ever wondered what it would be like to be able to taste Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Indian, and other Asian delicacies all at one extravagant Food Fest? Well, Austinites are in for a BIG treat! From September 6-8th, the Texas Asian Chamber of Commerce (TACC), Texas Culinary Academy (TCA), and SATAY Restaurant will host the 2nd Annual Asia Food Fest 2007. Featuring multiple celebrations, an Asian Market Day, and even a Texas-style Iron Chef Competition, this will be an enjoyable event for industry professionals, families, students, and even children!
This year’s event will feature distinguished chefs from across Texas as well as culinary experts from places as far as Thailand. The chefs will offer cooking classes and food and wine tasting events for event participants. “The 2nd Annual Food Fest offers participants a rare opportunity to experience various Asian flavors as well as the techniques of cooking authentic and fusion Asian dishes,” said Dr. Foo Swasdee, owner of Satay Restaurant. The event kicks-off on Thursday, September 6th at 6 p.m. with the 20th anniversary celebration of SATAY Restaurant on Anderson Lane in Austin, Texas. One of Austin’s favorite local bands, Duck Soup, kicks off the first night as you enjoy delicious Asian and Asian-Fusion cuisine, specially prepared by our eight distinguished chefs!
This event is aimed to raise funds for “Children in Need” through The Arc of Texas and the Thai Orphanage for the youngest tsunami victims. The event continues at the Texas Culinary Academy on Friday, September 7th and Saturday, September 8th. On Friday, participants will have an opportunity to experience a day of hands-on cooking classes and demonstrations. The Friday evening event will feature a silent auction and a five-course Asian-Inspired French Cuisine with wine pairings. Only the finest ingredients will be used. The event concludes on Saturday, September 8th, with an Asian Market day featuring 30 Asian vendors as well as an amateur and a professional Iron Chef Competition. The contestants will be judged by Austin’s food experts, media representatives, and Central Texas celebrities.
*Proceeds of the 2nd Annual Asian Food Fest & silent auction will benefit Dr. Foo Swasdee’s favorite international and local charities to help children in need—an orphanage for Thailand’s youngest Tsunami victims and The Arc of Texas—a statewide non-profit that works to ensure that all children and adults with developmental disabilities can flourish with their families and in their communities.
