Fire breaks out at Austin’s ACL Fest!
I have no idea what started the fire but a fire is definitely raging at ACL Fest. They interrupted Pete Yorn on the AT&T stage to direct people to “Step away from the fire and cooperate with police so we could get back to rocking on!”
As billows of smoke rose in the background and flames trailed, people backed away and the music raged on.
I’ll update you if I hear more about what started the fire.
3:20pm Update: News 8 Austin is reporting that a section of Zilker Park where ACL is being held, is being evacuated. According to officials, the fire started at around 2:30pm when a recreational vehicle’s propane tank exploded.
6:45pm Update: The News indicates that four Budweiser employees were injured, two of whom were taken to the hospital and later medivaced to Brook Army Medical Center in San Antonio via helicopter. The remaining two Budweiser employees were treated for second and third degree burns.
Thankfully the Austin Fire Department did a wonderful job of clearing the space surrounding the fire and they say the crowd worked well with them.
