Harry Potter, that is!

Fast on the heels of the latest Harry Potter movie, ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’, the latest and final Harry Potter book, is due out in a mere 6 days.

Like millions of fans, I await the new book with much anticipation laced with a good dose of melancholy. It’s been a great ride, JK Rowling. I can only hope you have another series in you.

You know you live in a great city when your library system purchases 160 copies of the latest Harry Potter to be available on the day of release, July 21st, at 10am. Not only that, but the Austin Library system has been hosting Harry Potter parties since July 9th.

They’ll also be hosting refresher courses in the last movies. Details can be found on the City of Austin website.

Book People will be hosting a book release party on July 20th starting at 10pm. Book vouchers can be purchased in advance to guarantee your copy and gain admittance for 2 to the celebration party.

Barnes and Noble across the country will be having Midnight Magic Parties. Friday night, July 20th. Come as you are or dressed as a character from the books.

Even BookWoman is getting in on the Harry Potter fun. The fun starts at 8pm. Stay until midnight to pick up your copy of the new book. Go in costume and vie for a chance to win a BookWoman gift certificate.

To avoid spoilers, I will be tuning out of Mix 94.7. They’ve aired spoilers the past 2 years! I was so peeved last year that I almost stopped listening to the station entirely.
