Me vs Thrakazog
There was an episode of The Tick a long time ago, wherein The Tick gets a cold and ends up fighting a snot-monster named Thrakazog. That is exactly what my week has felt like.
“Yes, my slimey friend, once again, slime does not pay! You can’t just coat yourself with artificial mucous and slip through the long fingers of the law. It’s wrong - and it’s gross!”

I apologize for failing to publish the weekend events last week. I’ve been fighting the flu and so far, I’m losing the battle. I have no idea if I caught it from someone or if my body is just forcing me to slow down. I have been going non-stop for months. I need to get better now, though, as a death in the family means I’ll be traveling back to Seattle this Thursday. Apparently Seattle is experiencing snow with even more snow on the way. This is not good news as we will need to go through the pass to eastern Washington where there is also snow on the ground. I guess I shouldn’t have been whining about our weather in Austin.
In the past few weeks I’ve made a wedding shower cake, a wedding reception cake and a baby shower cake. Now I’m trying to decide what to do for the upcoming Cake Show. Time is closing in on me. I finally registered and decided to do a sculpted cake and a white wedding cake for the tasting competition. I’m open for suggestions on the sculpted cake!
Valentine’s is quickly approaching. If you’ve stepped foot in a store you’re likely to have been assaulted by all the Valentine’s Day wares, candy and cards. I’m actually okay with that. Valentine’s Day, after all, is coming up shortly. What I’m not okay with, and I’m looking at YOU, TARGET, is the Easter decorations, candy and various and sundry that went up right after the first of January. That’s just not right and I hereby ban you, Target, until after Easter.

That’s probably enough of my flu induced crazy talk. If you’re a cake artist and you haven’t signed up for the cake show, go forth and do so now!
Do you have plans for Valentine’s? Do you even celebrate it?
