What: New Belgium Brewery’s: Tour de Fat Austin
When: Oct. 20th, Ride times: 11a-12p, Revival Times: 12p-6pm
Where: Fiesta Gardens

New Belgium Brewery’s Tour de Fat will stop in Austin on October 20th. In its seventh season, Tour de Fat is a free event that attracts costume-clad beer lovers and all kinds of decorated bikes. Most of the details are still being finalized, but there will also be live music and other performances. A big chunk of beer sales at Tour de Fat will go to Austin’s Yellow Bike Project, the Austin Cycling Association, and the Austin Ridge Riders. God’s favourite Band, The Asylum Street Spankers will be there!

What: First Annual Bluebonnet Horse Expo
When: October 20, 2007, 9am - 6pm

A day of riding and training demonstrations, dancing horse performances, kids activities, music, and more.

What: The 2007 Inherit Austin Family Music Festival
When: Saturday, October 20, 2007 from 10-2:00
Where: Pioneer Farms
$$$: Advance tickets are $5 children 3 and over, $10 for grandparents and seniors, and $12 for adults ($15 for adults at the gate).
There will be 4 stages with over 20 performances, starring Sara Hickman, Austin’s own Emmy-nominated Biscuit Brothers, plus Joe McDermott, The Armstrong Community Music School of Austin Lyric Opera, and more! Participate in hands-on musical exhibits such as a Musical Hayride, Drum Circle, an instrument petting zoo, music lessons, and a kid’s karaoke area! Plus the pumpkin patch, hay maze, and old-fashioned family activities create the perfect setting for a great day of family fun!

Brought to you by Make Magazine, this two-day fest features hundreds of unique inventions, creations, and workshops from artists, musicians, craftspeople, engineering types, science geeks, and general outside-the-box thinkers in an all-out celebration of the DIY spirit.

What: Flipnotics 15th Birthday Party

What: Earth’s Birthday
When: Sunday, October 21st at 1:00 pm- 3:30 pm

The event will feature four speakers in 15-20 minute talks, followed by brief question-and-answer sessions and refreshments, including a Flat Earth Birthday Cake, Ptolemaic Planetary Cookies, and Noah’s Floodwaters Punch.

What: Spook-tacular Creatures
When: October 21, 2007, 3 - 6 p.m.
Where: Westcave Preserve

Bats and spiders and owls, oh my! Learn about the creatures of Halloween night at Westcave Preserve. The afternoon includes storytelling in the cave and a bat nature trail, as well as other fun crafts and activities featuring our favorite Halloween animals.

Purchase a Ghoulwill Ball ticket and dress up as your favorite living or dead Hollywood idol, recreate America’s favorite horror movie characters, make fun of Hollywood comedic events, or design what you think Hollywood would look like if mixed with Austinites. The possibilities are limitless, but tickets are not–get them now and don’t miss out on the Ghoulwill Ball.

30 of Austin’s best architects, builders and designers have been chosen to create extraordinary dog houses of varied designs to be auctioned off to benefit local animal rescue, welfare and advocacy groups.100% of all proceeds from this year’s silent auction will directly benefit Animal Trustees of Austin, Lucky Mutts, Austin Dog Rescue and Blue Dog Rescue. These non-profit, largely volunteer-run groups work to find forever homes for homeless animals, many of which would otherwise be euthanized at local shelters.
