All-you-can-eat comedy impove PLUS waffles! The 6th annual Waffle Fest is a three-day improv comedy festival featuring the best of the Austin Improv scene. Each show includes ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT WAFFLES! Waffle Fest has been a huge success with happy comedy watchers downing over 5000 fresh baked waffles and 50 hours of improv comedy over the last five years. Come get syruped up and bask in the warm glow of Austin improv!!

What: 21st Annual Pfall Pfest Craft Show
When: Sat. Nov 17th, 9 a.m.-4 p.m
Where: Pflugerville Rec Center, 400 Immanuel Rd Pflugerville

Start your Holiday shopping or finish it up! Handcrafted items, baked goods, jewelry and glassware to choose from. Shop right through lunch and grab a BBQ sandwich, hot dog or deli sandwich from the Senior Activity Center. Admission is Free! Stop in and SHOP! (Hey, I have to plug my city occasionally)

What: 6th Annual E.A.S.T. Austin Studio Tour
When: Saturday November 17th & Sunday 18th, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Where: Throughout East Austin, see map
$$$: Free self guided tour
The tour offers art collectors, enthusiasts and the general public the rare opportunity to visit the inside of artists’ studios. Look through the website or catalog and find the studios you want to visit, check out the E.A.S.T. map for the location and look out for the studio signs outside all the artist studios. Ride your bike!

What: A Christmas Affair 2007 - The Gift of the Magi
When: Thurs, Nov. 15 Noon - 9 pm, Fri, Nov. 16 10 am - 8 pm, Sat, Nov. 17 10 am - 7 pm, Sun, Nov. 18 11 am - 5 pm
Where: The Palmer Event Center, 900 Barton Springs
$$$: $10 (or $18 for two-day ticket)
The Junior League of Austin puts on this event, which raises money for the group’s charitable programs. There is so much to see and do! Spend the day shopping, eating, and being entertained.

What: 11th Annual Austin Empty Bowl Project
When: Sunday, Nov. 18th, 11 a.m.-3 p.m
Where: ClayWays Pottery Studio & Gallery (5442 Burnet Road)
$$$: $15 per bowl
Purchase a beautiful bowl, handcrafted by a local artist, for $15. Receive a bowl of gourmet soup and a chunk of bread, donated by Austin area restaurants. Money raised goes to the Capital Area Food bank. This is a great opportunity to give back to the community and take home a wonderful keepsake. Live music plus a silent auction of bowls signed by celebrities.

What: 6th Semi-Annual Fall Art and Wine Trail
When: November 17 - 18, 10am-5pm
Where: Spicewood, Tx
$$$: Touring the trail is free of charge (but you may find things you’d like to purchase)
Seven galleries, three wineries, and one weekend of beautiful Hill Country scenery. An experience of the finest offerings in art and wine west of Austin. During this self-guided tour, come and go at your leisure to the galleries, studios, and vineyards for an up-close version of being involved with the process. This two day event is a wonderful opportunity to meet and visit with artists in their working studios; to see the vineyards, talk with the owners, and sample their award winning wines. Participating galleries, studios and wineries will be serving beverages and hors d’oeuvres.

What: Barack Obama, Countdown to Change
When: Saturday, Nov. 17th, 3pm

Obama will be in Austin. Come out, hear him speak, support the cause.

What: Capital Area Holiday Food Run
When: Nov. 17th, 9:30 a.m. registration

$$$: $10.00 per rider
This annual motorcycle ride feeds Austin’s hungry families for the holidays. After the ride, enjoy a day of raffles, auctions, contests, and music. Register at Central Texas Harley Davidson and Shenanigans, after ride festivities at Bikini’s Grill. Can’t make it to the ride? This year’s after-ride festivities will be held at Bikini’s (6901 IH-35 North) beginning at Noon. Cover charge $5 and 3 healthy non-perishable food items at the gate to benefit the Food Bank. Bands start at 12:30 p.m. to include: Broken Teeth, Jason McMaster’s of Dangerous Toys, Adrenaline Factor, Paul Lydell of Dangerous Toys Butcherwite, Special Guest, Van Wilk’s Hammer Dog, 6 Point’s of View, and Dawn Miracle. Food and drink specials, raffles, live auction, vendors, tattoo contest with True Blue Tattoo North. BBQ Plate by Coon/Donna from Roadkill. Don’t forget to check out the silent auction at Central Texas Harley Davidson and Hog Alley (Georgetown).

What: Cross Festival
When: Saturday, Nov. 17th, 11:30am-10pm.
Where: Auditorium Shores, South First at Town Lake, 470-2245
$$$: Free
This free family fest features more than 20 bands and includes plenty of kids activities and Christmas-shopping vendors. Proceeds benefit Family-Link and various other charities.

What: Macy’s Tree Lighting
When: Saturday, Nov. 17th
Where: The Domain, 11410 Century Oaks Terrace #210
$$$: Free
It looks like the Domain is kicking off a new holiday tradition this year with the lighting of the 40-foot Macy’s Christmas tree. Bring the whole family for an evening of carriage rides, fireworks, live music, and more to get you into the spirit of the season.

What: Hadassah Gift Bazaar & Blood Drive
When: Sunday, Nov. 18th, 9am-4pm;
Where: Jewish Community Center, 7300 Hart
$$$: Free
Features handmade goods from local artists, plus a bake sale, raffle, silent auction, kids activities, and the opportunity to donate blood (10-2, e-mail for appointment for blood drive)
