Zencouraging!
Why does morning have to start so danged early?
Got up at 6:45, got dressed, got some tea and toast in me and off we went to Zen training. We got a bit of a late start, as usual, because the new “chosen” people from the Chronicle team were late.
We eventually got started with a half mile walk around the park and then met on one of the fields to do the plyometric drills. It was markedly easier for me this week and Chip was impressed by how well I did at the sideways cross-overs. The first time I did them I had a hard time getting it but Chip showed me how and I’ve been practicing. We also did butt kicks, skipping, two types of high knee kicks and walking backwards. After the drills we did the circuit training from last week and finally I got my Tokyo breakfast, still my favourite part.
I was really encouraged by todays training. My legs aren’t killing me like last week. My legs hurt for about 4 days last week. Ouch! The training felt a lot easier overall. I’m sure Patrick, our trainer, will up the ante next week. He passed out a training schedule today that details what we’re supposed to do all week to prepare for next week. The plan actually calls for a bit of running. We’ll do two minutes on and two minutes off. The walking schedule will be a bit easier than what I did last week. I managed three hour long walks last week then took the last two days off to rest because my legs were still hurting. I think that was a good call because my legs felt find today.
One woman whom I shall call “Cute Blond Chick” brought her dog, which just seemed ill-advised. Of course Annoying Guy popped up and said, “I think I’ll get a dog to bring with me next time.” He was probably just flirting with Cute Blond Chick.
I think this was week 4 for me. Go, me! Next week we are meeting at the Capitol as part of the LiveStrong 5 k. That should be cool. I do that 5k for the Susan Komen every year and it’s a really nice walk.
